The Infrared Asphalt Repair Process

The initial stage of this procedure involves thoroughly cleansing the affected area to eliminate any debris or loose substances. Following this, the infrared heater is positioned over the damaged section, emitting intense heat for approximately 5-10 minutes, adjusted according to the extent of the damage and the thickness of the asphalt.

The heat produced by the infrared rays softens the asphalt without causing burning or oxidation. This softened layer can then be easily manipulated and smoothed as necessary. In cases of significant damage such as potholes or large cracks, additional compatible material may be introduced at this point.

Once reshaping is complete, compaction is carried out using either a vibratory roller or plate compactor. This ensures a seamless integration between the existing and new materials, resulting in a patch devoid of joints that effectively prevents water infiltration.
